School started today. This year Aidan (6th) and Alyssa (8th) are at the same school which is a huge relief to me :) They are both at Mission Hills Christian School for Jr High (can't believe Aidan is in Jr High and that Alyssa will be in High School next year!!!) Though Aidan was less than excited about wearing a uniform, as you can see, he looks very handsome AND he had a great day! BTW they both happened to pick the same color shirt today - they have white, blue, red and green to choose from.
We were disappointed not to be taking our traditional first day of school photo in front of our red door on our front porch. Aidan suggested we drive over to the house and take a pic. there but thought of taking a photo in front of our beat up front door with the scar from the axe used to break it down and the "red tag" that has been there so long it has now faded to pink, seemed too depressing to capture for all time on film - well even digitally.
I'm sure you are wondering where we are with our claim and re-build. The short answer is no where. Nothing is happening that we can see but our plans are currently being inspected by the city and when that is done, we can get bids to start construction. We still haven't settled our claim with Allstate but we are getting closer. I never would have imagined that nearly 7 months after our fire, we wouldn't be well into the rebuilding process. But I guess if nothing happens soon we can stage one heck of a haunted house there.
